Objective: The learner will explore technology tools and brainstorm classroom application.
Explore technology tools on the Wiki. Make notes as to each might be used in your own classroom. During the time allowed, try to get through and brainstorm as many ideas as possible for as many tools as possible. Your "exit ticket" (worth 5 points) is to show me your notebook that clearly shows you have:
a) Used time well (3 pts)
b) Identified numerous ideas for using tools so project can easily be created on day 2 (2 pts)
Day 2 (10/19/11)
Objective: The learner will create a Web 2.0 project - The content of the project will be proposed ideas for Web 2.0 implementation in a specific (the student's) content area.
Using an online video editing tool or a video animation tool create a video talking about using Web 2.0 tools with proposed ideas for your content area.
At 1:30 we will begin our gallery walk. Half of the class will walk around for 7 minutes while the other half walks around for the second 7 minutes. Your gallery walk presentation must show the following criteria (worth 10 points):
a) Creative - (1-3 pts)
b) Content - Clearly identifies ideas for technology integration for specific subject area (1-3 pts)
c) Technology Use - Participant is successful with technology based on their own level of challenge with the attendant risk of failure (1-3 pts)
d) Participates Positively in Gallery Walk (1 pt)
*Participation is REQUIRED for both of these lab days. Participation is considered to include active, constructive contributions to all tasks activities. It also includes the completion of assignments, and the willingness to support the efforts of others. All work is to be completed in the timeframe described. The instructor will work with novice and experienced students, alike, to adapt each task to an appropriate level of challenge. Quality participation involves taking on an appropriate level of challenge with the attendant risk of failure. Patience and mutual support are essential elements in a Learning Studio environment, and represent quality participation in a risk-taking setting. Perseverance, perspective, sense of humor, and active problem solving - for oneself and others - in cases of unexpected technical problems or set-backs is a sign of mature learning and quality participation.
